Dynamic Propulsion(tm) vs. Ultra Propulsion(tm)

It will be useful to point out the difference between these technologies:

Dynamic Propulsion™ is a small ribbon structure signified by four ribbons in parallel surrounded by elongated magnets. This technology is a refinement of former ribbon patents. Dynamic Propulsion goes far beyond previous designs. It offers twice the radiating surface (hence reduced distortion, twice the power capability, higher sensitivity and higher output capabilities) , a new ribbon transformer, a 6-Ohm load to suit tube and semiconductor amps, and a substantially improved performance.

Ultra Propulsion
is different from Dynamic Propulsion (and all other known technologies) in that no potentially sound-degrading transformer is used. Apart from this, Ultra Propulsion allows the ribbon to be uniformly driven over a much wider frequency range. Furthermore, Ultra Propulsion is targeted at longer (taller) ribbons because of the longer ribbons' ability to handle lower frequencies.

Until now, ribbons have been used primarily to cover only the mid- and high-frequency spectrum. One reason for this has been and still is the shortcomings of the transformer itself. By replacing said transformer with the Ultra Propulsion interface, the inherent resonances and phase errors totally disappear. The combined effect of tall ribbons operating over a wide frequency range in a line source configuration reduces the likelihood of hearing losses such as tinnitus if exposed to high SPLs.

Dynamic Propulsion Series

M1i dipole speaker. Rosewood version
 M1i

A 10-liter dipole bookshelf-size speaker offering extremely musical sound at an affordable price. This speaker is a revolutionary refinement of Mr. Bengtsson's highly acclaimed R3 design for Red Rose Music, featuring twice the radiating surface of the ribbon elements, twice the power capability and half the distortion for a given output, and higher sensitivity. In addition, its 6 Ohm load impedance suits tube as well as semiconductor amplifiers and has a 5% smaller footprint.

The new woofer

Compared to the former award-winning RRM R3 speakers, the Transmission Audio M1i version has been updated in several ways. One of the major updates is a completely new woofer, custom-made to our specifications, a new magnet structure, a new voice coil assembly and a much more linear frequency response. The result is a faster and tighter bass response and a midrange that probably will set a new standard.

M1i is the only mini-speaker in the world utilizing a true open dipole ribbon structure covering all frequencies from 3kHz and up. The effortless, transparent and resonance-free reproduction, only available via an open dipole structure, is our sonic signature. The M1 is perfectly suited for Home Theater systems. In short, the Model 1 offers an extremely musical and "big" sound from a very small cabinet, and at an affordable price.

Ultra Propulsion Series

M3i Ultra Propulsion drive

M3i

A 40-liter floor standing speaker featuring our brand new, patent-applied-for "Ultra Propulsion" technology. This double-bass reflex speaker enclosure combines the better of two worlds: a narrow profiled cabinet for minimum diffraction, topped by the slim, extended 1-inch-wide Ultra Propulsion ribbon tweeter which offers extreme definition at the same time as it represents a very easy load on the amplifier, thus allowing for less than killer-priced amps for the music lover on a limited budget.
The two woofers are separated acoustically by means of a divider that further strengthens the mechanical structure in the cabinet. The woofers are proprietary, made to custom order.

The patent applied for Ultra Porpulsion technology makes it possible to crossover the woofer at 500Hz and thus benefit from the ribbons clean and fast reproduction of the lower medium frequencies.

It is vital to point to the fact that no transformers are used in the signal path. In order to achieve that, our competitors normally use a ribbon consisting of a plastic film onto which a multitide of aluminum strips is attached, forming a flat voice coil. The length of the strips are such that when connected in series, the resulting impedance reaches acceptable levels.
Unfortunately this method creates more problems than it solves. The plastic film adds passive mass and the strips results in the film seeing uneven forces as a function of area. The Ultra Propulsion deals with this by a utilizing a single metal membrane only, driven by our new interface.

M3 Pro

Comprising an extremely powerful 10-woofers-in-line reflex loaded column where each woofer has its own port to keep airspeed down and airflow up , the M3 Pro speaker offers not only our Ultra Propulsion ribbon technology, but also a bass capacity superceded only by the M5 and M6.

Like its bigger brothers, M3 Pro represents the ultimate in sound reproduction sharing a major feature: a seamless, uninterrupted column-shaped ribbon unit that severely reduces the risks of hearing damages, even at floor-shaking levels.

The ribbon line works as a linesource open dipole system meaning a total freedom from boxiness and coloration due to lack of early reflections. One of the many positive aspects of a line source configuration is its abilty to reach far into the listening environment without significant loss of sound pressure level. Another is the extremely low distortion; less than 0,03% at 96dB SPL.

The patent applied for Ultra Porpulsion technology makes it possible to crossover the woofer at 500Hz and thus benefit from the ribbons clean and fast reproduction of the lower medium frequencies.

M5

This model incorporates all the features of the M3 Pro, plus the feature of a no-compromise woofer scenario utilizing no less than 20-woofers per channel; 10 facing forward, 10 facing backward. By replacing the passive bass reflex ports in M3 Pro with 10 active woofers, the listener gets a unique opportunity to choose operation mode: he or she can opt for either the front and back woofers to work in electrical phase; i.e., when the front woofers are moving outward the back woofers do the same, thus resembling a "perfect" monopole structure with all advantages of such; enormous power cabability. Alternatively, the listener can choose dipole mode, meaning that the front- and rear-firing woofers are working in opposite phase with each other; when the front woofers move outwards, the rear woofers move inwards. In this operating mode, the whole system works as a dipole system for all frequencies with a no-compromise bass reproduction down to 16 Hz. (-3dB).

The beauty of this configuration is that the 2-inch ribbon has the capacity to process the important frequency domain from 250Hz and upwards. The extreme speed and acceleration capabilities of the ribbon drivers surpasses any conventional woofer. As a result, the overall sound quality in the upper bass region is vastly enhanced. The listener benefits from an exceptionally high transparency, unheard of in the industry.

M5 Signature

Finished in Bordeaux-red Grand Piano glossy laquer with the Ultra Propulsion modules symmetrically oriented in a thick, handpolished freestanding diople configuration, we think this is one of the most beautiful speakers ever built.

To special order, the floor dividers between the woofers in the tower can be delivered in "gold-finish" polished brass. No efforts have been spared to create a speaker that will find its place in a home with styling to match. Built to custom order only, no more than 12 pairs per year will be built. The ribbon sections have built-in blue LED's that can be turned on to glow in the dark...

Like the standard M5, this model incorporates all the features of the M3 Pro, the main differences being a no-compromise woofer scenario utilizing no less than 20-woofers per channel; 10 facing forward, 10 facing backward.

By replacing the passive bass reflex ports in M3 Pro with 10 active woofers, the listener gets a unique opportunity to choose operation mode: he or she can opt for either the front and back woofers to work in electrical phase; i.e., when the front woofers are moving outward the back woofers do the same, thus resembling a "perfect" monopole structure with all advantages of such; enormous power cabability, OR the listener can choose dipole mode, meaning that the front- and rear-firing woofers are working in opposite phase with each other; - when the front woofers move outwards, the rear woofers move inwards. In this operating mode, the whole system works as a dipole system for all frequencies with a no-compromise bass reproduction down to 16Hz.

M6 Full dipole system

M6

Targeted at large auditoriums and advanced home theatre installations in need of extremely high SPL΄s; i.e., over 130dB with very low distortion, Model 6 offers all the advantages of Model 5 and, in addition, features a true no-compromise open dipole woofer section containing no less than 30 woofers per channel. This model offers the fastest sound reproduction currently available on the market, for the following reasons:

1. The open baffle system represents an enormous surface area, and operates similarly to a large sail on a yacht. This means that if a strong bass frequency is fed to the speaker (just as wind is fed to the sail) the energy is divided into all 30 woofers, and the cone excursion is reduced tremendously, as each woofer sees only 1/30 of the applied power.

2. The absence of any type of enclosure in the baffle area reduces build-up of resonances, standing waves, and non-linear compression
.

The M6 is so powerful that it covers auditoriums of to 1000 people with ease. And it has the same detail and impact 100 meters away as it has in your favorite Home Theater chair!

The twin 2" ribbon line array has a radiating area of no less than 2,000 square centimeters making it possible for them to handle all frequencies above 250Hz with ease. The 1-inch ribbon seemlessly handles the frequencies up and above the threshold of hearing.
